The Artist D in the 21st Century
Who is The Artist D? I am.
In 1995 I arrived on the scene of this new thing called "the Internet." It was a haven for outcast children and mature young people who wanted to do more than play with a jump rope or smoke their parent's cigarettes at the back of the Country Store.
In 1997 I was busy cam whoring my way to the top. I didn't do a whole lot but be here. I was the guy in the corner with the webcam. I wrote poetry and didn't make waves. To tell you the truth all the other cam whores like Sinnocence, Armond Degeo, Rusty, Necroraven, Gary Lodatto, Jessica Kitten and others intimidated me.
Come to learn they respected me.
Somewhere around the turn of the century I started burningOrbit.org and began paving my way through the Internet as those who came before me dropped out. Entities like LiveJounral, Friendster and Myspace were beginning to take over. The internet as an exclusive artist-only place was coming to an end.
I held my ground. I kept being D, because that's all I wanted to be.
Throughout the next few years I worked on my trade - surrealism. I made money and left the East Coast to flaunt my fabulousness on the West Coast. I moved from San Diego to Phoenix to Las Vegas, my current home. I wrote five books over a lengthy period of time. I painted and I photographed my way through.
In 2006 I was introduced on one of the Internet's first radio broadcasts, Cotolo Chronicles. I have been a regular guest ever since and the host, Frank Cotolo, has been nothing but accomodating to my insanity. In 2007 I met an incredible woman named Charlotte Bukowski and a few months later we started The Fabulous D Show. A spin off to Cotolo Chronicles.
2008 has come and gone while I continued producing my radio show, now with co-hosts Charlotte, Sara K and Vanilla Child. Earlier in the year I began a huge undertaking to finally compile and publish an art magazine named fourCulture. It's still under heavy production and if anyone has an ounce of patience we may see it some day.
I have dealt with transgenderism, bisexuality, homosexuality and people who just refuse to love me. I have become a pillar and inspiration to thousands. It's alright. I don't mind. I've turned out to be quite a man and I look like one hell of a woman. All I know is that I am an artist and I am here to stay. Not because I will fight for a place in history, but simply because I will always be here doing what I do best. I don't care if anyone is looking anymore. This is just who I am.
I've outdone the cam whores and those fucking wannabe kids on MySpace. I am who I am, but I'll be damned if any wannabe's get the best of me.
I am The Artist D.
